Automobile Engineering

The Department of Mechanical and Automobile Engineering is one of the largest departments in the Institute.  Established in 2044 B.S. (1987 A.D.), this department has been generating quality manpower in the field of mechanical and automobile engineering. Currently, the department offers two undergraduate programs: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor’s degree in Automobile Engineering with over 300 undergraduates on roll. Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering started from 2069 B.S. (2012 AD) and Bachelor in Automobile Engineering started from 2075 BS (2018 AD). The department has 24 full-time faculty members, full-time administrative and technical support staff.

The aim of the department is to spread knowledge through academic programs of the highest quality and experiential learning covering numerous facets of Mechanical and Automobile Engineering Science and Applications. We strive to create an environment of innovation and research that addresses real-world problems. Through their teaching and expertise, the faculty members of the department work hard to prepare high quality manpower and leaders with a problem-solving approach and global awareness. The students, faculty and staff are encouraged to have high standards of integrity and ethical behaviour.

In addition to the regular academic work, the students of the department are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities. There are different clubs (technical and non-technical) through which the students conduct and participate in various programs that help in building their overall personality and character.  The department also emphasizes to improve its Industry-Academia Collaboration program which will help in capacity development and knowledge transfer between students and industrial experts.
